The New Do

We took Nico to get his first haircut this weekend. There's a kid's salon over by the mall that's actually open on Sundays, so we decided it was time. We've been discussing if for a while now, and knew that we were going to do it some time before Pam's wedding Labor Day weekend, but John decided Sunday was the day when he went to pull a fuzz from Nico's lip and realized it was connected to his head. It definitely was getting scraggly looking, but John and I were both so torn about cutting off his curls. So....we didn't! Everyone always says how beautiful Nico's hair is (even if he does get called a girl more than half the time), and I was just afraid he would look too grown up with a real little boy haircut. I'm just not ready to let go of the curls. Anyways, he did great at the salon. He was super excited when we got there because there were all kind of toys in the waiting area. There was a big slide and school bus he could drive. And when he went back to get his haircut, he got to sit in a boat. The stylist tried to give him some toys to play with but he kept pushing them away because he just wanted to play with the steering wheel. He was a little squirmy during the haircut, but he didn't cry or scream or anything. And he wasn't really ready to leave when we were done. I think the haircut turned out really cute, although to the casual observer, it might not look like he really got one.

Here he is before.

During.

And after.

He's just getting so grown up I can't believe it.
