July 3rd Hiking

John had the day off on Friday so I convinced him that we should go hiking. Well, apparently that's what everyone else in the universe decided to do that day, too. We went up to Denny Creek and couldn't even make it to the trail head that I was wanting to hike because there were so many cars on the street and in the parking lot. So we settled for a different trail leading up to Franklin Falls. It was still a nice hike with a beautiful destination. I just wish there hadn't been quite as many people there. But that's what you get for going to an easy, kid friendly trail on a holiday weekend. Nico had so much fun. He loved playing in the water and throwing rocks. He was none too happy when we packed up to hike out.

Here we are getting ready to start out.

Nico found a little spot that he kept going back to. There was a little pool that he would stand in and then throw rocks down a little drop into the stream.

Picking up rocks was the activity of the day.

He fell down into the water a few times, but it didn't seem to bother him a bit. (That water was COLD!)

He wasn't real happy about stopping to eat lunch.

Here we are in front of the waterfall. This was as we were about to hike out. Nico had a wardrobe change to something dry!

And here's all three of us.
