More Nico firsts

Nico had a lot of firsts on our Texas trip this time. Not only did he have his first 4th of July and his first beach trip, but he also sat in a high chair for the first time,

drank from a sippy cup for the first time,

and swam in a pool for the first time.

He did really well sitting in the high chair. He ended up doing it about 3 times during the trip. The first time was at Pappasitos. He sat there for quite a while playing with his toys before getting restless. It made it a lot easier for John and me to eat!
I decided to give Nico a sippy cup because he had taken a bottle a couple weeks before for the first time since he was about 6 weeks old and he actually held it himself. I had no idea he could do that! So I decided to see if he could use a cup as well. We just put a little water in for him to play with. He did pretty well holding it, but he needed a little help to actually tilt it up and get some water. He wasn't real thrilled with the water but he loved playing with the cup. I'm hoping I can avoid ever giving him a bottle. It'll just be one less thing to try and wean him from.
And finally the swimming. We went out to Connie's and Andy's to swim the day after we went to the beach. I wanted to see what he would think of the pool water since he didn't seem to like the beach water at all. Micah was nice enough to let Nico ride in his floaty boat. Nico loved it. He just kind of kicked back and relaxed. We went back again the following weekend, and he liked it even more. That time he kicked his little feet and played in the water. Next summer, I'm sure he'll have even more fun.

One more picture, just because he's so cute!
